Virgin With a Monkey

Dublin Core

Title

Virgin With a Monkey

Description

In the center of the image is a seated woman with an infant on the left side of her lap. She is in a long dress and a square neck. She is looking down and to her right at the infant. Her hair is long, wavy, and light colored rolling down the right side of her body. Behind her head is a halo like circle. The infant is holding an object in its left hand while the other hand is a perched light colored bird. On the ground next to the woman's feet is a monkey with a dark face and light colored fur. It's tied to the fence she is sitting on. On the ground, near the end of the monkey's tail are the artist's initials. In the background is a body of water with inlets and a small boat near the horizon. On the right side of the image near the water is a tall house with steep rood. Round clouds are clumped together on the left of the top of the image.
