A Trip to the Circus

Clara Mairs achieved a national reputation as an artist largely because of her etchings.  Of these, her circus theme is well acclaimed for showing motion in a still image and capturing the lively fun of a circus.

Leaping Leopards by Clara Gardner Mairs.

Several of Mairs' etchings were reproduced in Fine Prints of the Year. Leaping Leopards was the first to receive such honor in 1930.
