"...where I spend most of my time."

-Ruth Sawyer, circa 1950-1960

Photographs showcases rare pictures of children's book author Ruth Sawyer and her family over the course of her lifetime. These photographs, digitized for the first time in The Story of a Storyteller, illustrate special moments in the life of this well-known writer—quiet instances of inspiration-gathering and proud occasions of recognition.

Included in this collection are photographs of Sawyer in Spain, where she found inspiration for her book The Least One; portraits and candids of the author and her family; pictures of Sawyer attending celebrations of her work and influence at Saint Catherine University; and photographs of her daughter, Margaret Durand, accepting the Alexandrine Medal on behalf of her late mother in 1965.

In all, these photographs celebrate the storied life of a writer, teacher, and mother who dedicated her life to children's literature.
