St Jerome in His Study

An elderly male figure is seated and hunched behind a desk looking at an elevated sheet of paper. He is bald on the top of his head and has long flowing white hair and beard. The figure is dressed in robes and has a light halo in the shape of a crescent over the top of his head. The desk he works at is in the center of the room and has another chair that is vacant to his left. To his right are to large windows with light shining in. Behind the man on the wall are different candle holders sitting on shelves. Above his head on the wall is an hourglass. There is a long bench running the length of the room on the wall to his right. It contains pillows, books, and a skull. A lion and a smaller dog lay on the wood floor in front of the desk. Both animals appear to be sleeping. Behind the lions posterior is a frame with Albrecht Durer's initials.
