The composition contains a harvest threshing scene with farmers, animal livestock, and wagons. In the foreground is corral with cows grazing and lying down. There are many birds on the ground amongst them. Within the corral is a hay-covered shelter on the left and a hay stack on the right side. Just outside the fenced in corral, on the left, are two buildings; the ground in front of the building is spotted with chickens. In the middle ground are horse-drawn hay wagons filled to overflowing and converging onto the threshing area in the middle of the composition. Small figures can be seen around the thresher performing various tasks as the hay goes through the thresher. To the far left a mound of grain is piling up once separated from the shaft. A series of low bushy trees borders the threshing scene in the background with a light cloudless grey sky overhead.
