La Cathedrale De Reims - Facade
Dublin Core
Title
La Cathedrale De Reims - Facade
Description
An ornate Gothic church facade with its tall bell towers dominates this monochromatic vertical composition. The church features richly carved architectural elements as well as a large central rose window. The lower story of the building consists of three portals, each framed by a pointed arch. A smaller rose window is located above the central portal. In the foreground on the left side of the composition, there is a small pile of rubble with a hole in the ground immediately behind it. In the middle ground, several small figures are dwarfed by the enormous facade of the church behind them. Framing the picture plane on either side of the work, there are edifices of dilapidated buildings. Pieces of the facade of the building on the right can be seen falling to the ground below.
