In the composition, three women in a row are bent low to the ground with arms and hands extended to dig and pick up potatoes. All three women are wearing long skirts and tops or long dresses, and bonnets that hide their faces. One woman, on the left, uses a small hoe held in her right hand to dig potatoes.
