Breton Mourners

Dublin Core

Title

Breton Mourners

Description

In the center of the composition are five figures in two rows, two in the back and three in the front. They are all wearing hooded robes their heads that covers their faces. They appear to be bowing towards the lower right-hand corner of the composition. Their hands appear to be drawn up towards their covered faces. Behind the three mourners, on the right side of the composition, is a large hill that ends abruptly as a steep cliff. A barren landscape leads to a low mountain range in the far distance leaving room for just a narrow band of cloudless sky.
