Description
A large woman dressed in a white shoulderless dress and red sash dominates this composition. She is framed by two women standing and sitting on either side of her. The women in the center has her arms extended over her head and is holding a white cockatiel in each hand. On either side of the central woman are two women seated on the ground one on each side. The one on the right is dressed in a yellow dress and yellow hat, another cockatiel appears to be perched on the rim of the hat; one leg is bent under her while the other one is bent up and acts as a resting surface for her arm. The one on the left is dressed in white with red trim and is wearing a yellow hat. She appears to be seated similar to the woman on the right. In the middle ground, two women can be seen standing one on either side of the central woman. The one on the right is dressed in red with a red scarf or headdress over her hair; her arms are up over her head seemingly to help balance a basket filled with melons sitting on her head. The woman on the left is dressed in yellow with a white scarf or headcovering; she too has her arms up over her head to support a large green object. The lower 1/3 of the composition is in shades of green and brown representing the ground whereas the upper 1/3 is blue representing the sky.
