The 80s- Flower Power
By the 80s, Bettye had reached maturity as an artist. She was now working at Augsburg College as an instructor and was taking advantage of that position to learn new techniques from her colleagues. She began building on previous printmaking experiences to learn etching, which she would use to make printed versions of her paintings. Bettye also kept making her large floral paintings, which were massively appealing to buyers at the time. With the booming economy of the 80s to buoy her, as well as a number of high-profile exhibitions, Bettye saw a great deal of commercial success during this decade.
