Women at the Gallery
1972:
This catalog promotes an exhibit for Sister Maria Wilson, an instructor at Saint Catherine University. The exhibit ran in November and December. Sister Maria Wilson's exhibit featured photography, ceramics, and sculpture.
1973:
This poster and brochure promoted Joan Claesgens' exhibit in the gallery from September to October. Her exhibit featured a series of paintings titled Mounds.
1974:
This catalog features three women with connections to the University of Minnesota Gallery. Sandra Kraskin's work was featured at the Walker Art Center Biennial in 1968 and they currently hold one of her works from 1976 as well. Ruth Leavitt's computer artwork was featured in this exhibit. She also published the book Artist and Computer in 1976.
1975:
This brochure features a gallery show of Marisol Escobar's 3-dimensional artworks. Her art often used found objects and commented on women's societal roles and the restraints placed on women. Her art career and influence were at their height in the 60s. She received the Paez medal of art in 2016.
Women's Art Resources of Minnesota (WARM)
Women's art organization that was founded in 1976. This was the first feminist art cooperative in Minnesota. The group opened a gallery in 1976. These promotional materials feature some founding members of the organization. Some of the women featured who were founding WARM members include Miriam Shapiro, Joyce Lyon, Gemma Cullen, Jane Starosciak, and Jantje Visscher. The Catherine G. Murphy Gallery featured an exhibit, Roots and Fruits, curated by MLIS graduate and instructor Heather Carroll in 2018 on the history and impact of WARM.
1987:
This postcard promotes a gallery exhibit for Diane Williams. The exhibit ran in March and April.
