Title
The Good Shepherd
Description
A figure holding a shepherd’s staff dominates the left hand portion of this vertical composition. Sheep, varied in size, are in rows of 2-3 and then stacked one on top of the other filling the space to the right of the figure. The figure He is dressed in a long sleeve jacket and tight fitting pants; his feet are bare. Horizontal bands emanate from his head, creating a halo-like effect. The use of dark heavy lines and black ink which permeates the empty space contrasts with the bright colors in this work, such as teal, magenta, gold and mint green. Rather than applying the colors uniformly, the artist has applied them in large, seemingly random expanses. Tiny flecks of metallic paint reflect light throughout the composition.
