Venetian Scene

Dublin Core

Title

Venetian Scene

Description

The composition contains a street scene depicting two nuns, two photographers, two women, a street performer, and a flock of pigeons. The nuns on the right hand side of the composition are wearing habits and are looking up at the birds. The photographer, also on the right just in front of the nuns, is hidden under the cloth that shades the light for a traditional box camera on a tripod; he has his hands out around the camera. A man with a black moustache wearing a cap stoops down in front of the photographer on the right. The man in the cap holds a book in his left hand and an accordion folded book in his right that he holds up to the woman in the center of the composition. Directly behind the man in the cap is another man with a hand held camera, his head is bent down looking at the camera and both hands are posed on the camera as if he were about to take a photograph of the photographer on the right. The woman in the center is heavy set and smiles as she holds out her arm to allow the birds to perch there. Another think women stands off to the far left. White birds are in a flutter around all the figures as well as walking around on the ground.
