Black and orange geometric cup

Dublin Core

Title

Black and orange geometric cup

Description

The cup is made from a golden-orange clay and painted with geometric designs in black and orange paint. The designs cover the entirety of the outer cup and the entire pattern repeats once. The designs are mostly straight and angular lines as well as some curved lines and dotted patterns.
Nampeyo is widely regarded as one of the finest Hopi potters and was particularly well-known for her "old Hopi" designs and patterns. She is considered responsible for the revival of ancient Hopi styles and techniques.
"HOPI" is carved into base of pot. "grand canyon BWZ" seem to be written in pen.
